The Today show’s familiar stars will return. On Friday’s Today, co-anchor Craig Melvin said Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, who missed this week’s shows, will “be back with us soon.”
Guthrie, 51, left the morning show Tuesday after testing positive for COVID-19. Today’s Sheinelle Jones said the morning was engaging. Since she left early and wasn’t feeling well, Savannah took a COVID test. Good results.
“Family health issue” has kept Kotb, 58, absent since February 17.
“We know many of you have been asking how she’s doing,” Melvin, 43, told fans Wednesday. Hoda is good. Due to a family health issue, Hoda and Savannah will return to the station soon.
Jenna Bush Hager, Kotb’s Today co-host, promised to “be back, right here, very, very soon.”
“We love her,” she said.
“We love you both,” said weatherman Al Roker.
Kotb interviewed Olivia Newton-John’s husband and daughter, John Easterling and Chloe Lattanzi, on Friday. She pre-recorded with Bush Hager, 41, on February 20.
Since leaving Today, Kotb has posted encouraging messages on Instagram, including a “choose hope” image on Monday.
