Manny Almonte, the owner of Red Dragon Tattoo, is a talented tattoo artist with a passion for creating beautiful and unique designs. Born in the Dominican Republic, he migrated to the US at the age of 16 and continued his education in art and design. Manny’s journey into the world of tattooing started 19 years ago, and since then, he has honed his craft to become one of the most sought-after tattoo artists in the industry.

How it all began

Manny’s career started in a West Village tattoo shop, where he landed a job airbrushing clothes. Fascinated by the art of tattooing, he began asking questions and learning about the craft. Over time, he developed his skills and became a self-taught tattoo artist who now creates intricate and stunning tattoos that leave his clients in awe.

Goals and Accomplishments

Manny’s goal is to be the best tattoo artist in the world and charge the price his art is worth without having to negotiate. He takes great pride in the quality of his craftsmanship, reliability, and friendly atmosphere. 

Manny’s accomplishments are many, but the one he’s most proud of is his 2009 toy drive, where he collected 171 toys and donated them to the Red Cross. Aside from his extensive charity work, Manny is also proud of his 5-page spread in Urban Ink Magazine and his long list of celebrity clientele that includes some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.

Obstacles and Inspirations

One of the hardest obstacles Manny had to overcome was finding a way to reach a broader audience and get his name out there. However, with his hard work, discipline, determination, great heart, and open-mindedness, he’s managed to establish himself as a well-known tattoo artist.

Aside from tattooing, Manny enjoys spending time with his family and painting. He is also working on developing a signature tattoo lotion, which he believes will revolutionize the industry.

Collaborations and Future Plans

Manny has collaborated with Bruckner bar at 136 street tattoo art show called In the Skin, where he exhibited a collection of paintings from different artists. His dream collaboration is with Yomico Moreno, Stefano Alcantara, and Nikko Hurtado, all renowned tattoo artists in the industry.
