Young Guinea, also known as Laquan Shaw, is a rising artist from Chambersburg, PA. His music career began at a young age, as he watched his father make music and wrote raps of his own. Tragically, his father was shot and killed in front of him at the age of 15, which greatly affected his life and led him to take music more seriously as a way to express himself during difficult times.
With a strong desire to “go up” in the music industry, Young Guinea has already accomplished a significant milestone by opening for NLE Choppa and seeing his own billboard in his hometown. His biggest musical inspiration is his father, and he is currently not signed to any label.
Young Guinea wants his listeners to take away the importance of being true to oneself, and is currently working on new singles for release. He typically works with a variety of studios in his area and hopes to collaborate with DDG in the future, citing his real-life subject matter and unique sound as reasons for the collaboration.
When asked what keeps him motivated to pursue his dreams, Young Guinea cites his faith in God and his children as his main reasons for continuing to pursue his passion for music. In addition to making music, Young Guinea also enjoys riding dirt bikes, playing basketball, and spending time with his family.
